Vice President of Data Analytics

Summary


The VP of Data & Analytics is an executive leader that has the primary accountability of transforming the enterprise's data & analytics assets into business value, defining specific use cases that support the exploitation of strategic and tactical business opportunities.


This includes creation and management of a data and analytics strategy & vision, development of a framework to align data integration with business value-driven data outputs, and partnership with the CIO, executives and operators to identify and build analytics products to meet specific use cases.


This role will be critical to building data trust through instituting data governance, standards and controls and building D&A talent and structure.


This is a great role for a self-starting individual with deep healthcare data experience and drive to create from the ground up.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Vision

Build partnerships with executive leadership and operators across the organization to

establish the vision

for managing data as a business asset.

Define a

data and analytics strategy

and associated frameworks, processes, products.

Ensure the ongoing relevance of the organization's data and analytics strategy in collaboration with the CIO who will continue to manage the technology build.

Institute an

enterprise operating model

for data and analytics that is consistent with the capabilities and competencies required to execute the strategy.

Data Governance & Quality:
Build

data trust

by creatingdata governance committees and charters, data definitions, standards, controls and documentation.

Partner with the CIO

to ensure


utilization of appropriate technologies , systems and processes to deliver data value and increase speed of development and quality by leveraging industry-standard data sources, definitions, vendors.

Partner with executive leadership, legal and compliance to

ensure appropriate and compliant policies, procedures and security

surrounding the processing and use of data in alignment with state and/or federal regulatory requirements.

Data Democratization & Team Development

Foster the creation of

data democratization


through deliberate programs, processes and communication strategies that enhance data literacy, data access, and adoption of analytics products across the operational organization.

Develop business case and hire

a D&A team

scalable and consistent with the organization's data & analytics strategy.

Data Translation, Business Intelligence and Analytics/A I


Oversee business-driven data & analytics initiatives through translating business needs, identifying the right use cases, prototyping the agile development of a minimally viable product and ongoing product enhancements, and ensure product is implemented and adopted.


Develop company-wide processes to intake and prioritize data and analytics needs from the business and document and maintain business requirements documentation.

Expand the organization's research and analytics offerings, especially in

emerging analytical approaches , skills and technologies, focusing on accelerating digital business innovation and transformation.

Once data and analytics foundation has been built, create a vision the organization's strategy surrounding the application of the intelligent automation continuum from

robotic process automation to AI/predictive analytics.

Experience:

Education:
Bachelor's required, master's degree preferred in data science, mathematics / science, actuarial studies, healthcare administration or business administration with analytical focus or related field

Financial

  • Understanding of P&L drivers of hospitals, ASCs and physician practices
Operational -

Understanding of operational drivers and associated measures to drive efficiencies in hospitals, ASCs and physician practices

EMR / Patient Accounting Systems

  • Understanding of and ability to partner with disparate EMRs / patient accounting systems to drive data insights


Experience in building data & analytics programs in a health system environment (acute care hospitals, surgical hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices) including building analytics processes from the ground up within the past 5 years.

Familiarity with Microsoft Technology Stack inclusive of SQL, PowerBI and Microsoft Azure

Expertise in various healthcare EMR and Patient Accounting Systems data structure and workflow

Leadership Skills:
Heavily detail-oriented with robust strategic analytics experience

Aptitude and evidence of leading change, transformation and alignment through influence especially with executive-level teams, multi-site operators, functional teams

Develop, manage, allocate and govern the annual budget

Evidenced ability to partner with the CIO to scan the horizon for emerging management tools, skills, techniques and technologies. Work together to ensure their timely introduction for competitive advantage and to minimize duplication.

Define team members' responsibilities and accountabilities.

Define job roles, recruit candidates, and then manage (directly or indirectly) a team of data and analytics leaders and senior information management professionals in different regions or business units across a complex, international group enterprise to include off shore resources.
