Our client, a rapidly growing Non-For-Profit Health Center in Chicago, is looking to hire a skilled Financial Controller with FQHC experience on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate must have prior experience managing finances for an FQHC, and possessing a CPA certification would be a significant advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the FQHC.
  • Compliance: Assist in obtaining Federally Qualified Health Care (FQHC) status by ensuring adherence to HRSA accreditations, federal regulations, and relevant guidelines.
  • Revenue Cycle Management: Collaborate with the finance team to enhance billing and collections processes, monitor cash flow, review financial statements, and generate reports to track revenue and ensure timely reimbursement.
  • Grant Management: Coordinate grant activities, including grant writing, obtaining grants, and managing grant funds while ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Work with senior management to develop annual budgets and forecasts, provide guidance to department heads, and monitor budget performance.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports for senior management, the board of directors, and external stakeholders to facilitate decision-making.
  • Supervision and Leadership: Oversee accounting staff responsible for AP, AR, and payroll, provide leadership, guidance, and training to the finance team.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of financial leadership experience in a nonprofit environment, preferably with FQHC background.
  • Minimum 3 years of healthcare accounting experience, especially in a FQHC/healthcare center with at least 50 employees.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or equivalent field; CPA certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in eClinicalWorks and QuickBooks.
  • Familiarity with government cost principles, budgetary/reporting requirements, and auditing standards.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to work independently, and collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and adeptness in managing multiple deadlines.
