Role Overview:

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director and Controller will oversee all accounting functions, manage the general ledger, coordinate vendor relationships, and ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all facets of accounting operations and maintain the general ledger.
  • Act as the primary contact for external vendors, handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and data entry.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls, policies, and best practices.
  • Supervise all aspects of the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and sub-ledger activities.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for related entities.
  • Facilitate month-end closing processes.
  • Implement expense allocations in preparation for financial closings.
  • Play a critical role in annual audits and compliance reporting.
  • Oversee revenue posting journal entries for departmental financial reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA certification is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 7 years of accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with Great Plains/Management Reporter is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to train and manage staff effectively.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
