Summary:
The Medical Assistant I, Certified provides essential clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers in an outpatient clinic setting.
Responsibilities:
- Performs rooming and intake processes including vital signs and patient data collection.
- Assists with treatments, examinations, procedures, and medication administration.
- Collects specimens, performs phlebotomy, and conducts tests under provider's direction.
- Ensures exam rooms are stocked and prepared for patient visits.
- Provides patients with instructions, educational materials, and after-visit care.
- Assists with patient registration, scheduling, and referrals.
- Responds to clinic inquiries and assists during emergencies.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of accredited Medical Assisting program preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Medical Assistant certification required.
- Basic Life Support Certification needed.
Professional Experience Requirements:
Prior medical assistant experience or externship preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage positively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records.
