Overview

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Anatomic Pathologist to the group at Kings County Hospital. Kings County Hospital operates a world-renowned Level 1 Trauma Center, one of only three in Brooklyn, which serves 2.6 million residents of Brooklyn and Staten Island. The hospital is academically affiliated with SUNY Downstate Medical Center in order to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.

Kings County is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being Afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required.

Responsibilities

Review and sign out surgical pathology biopsies, excision, and resection cases

Review and sign out cytopathology cases

Prioritize malignant cases and submit all first-time malignant cases for daily intradepartmental consensus conference for peer review and concordance

Complete cases in the required turnaround time (TAT) at Kings County Hospital

Participate in internal/external quality assurance, performance improvement activities and programs, and departmental meetings, and facility-wide training as needed

Involve in processing of surgical pathology service management and quality improvement

Instruct residents on service of general surgical pathology and cytopathology

Participate in other clinical activities as requested by service director

Qualifications
  • NY State Medical License
  • Completion of an accredited residency/fellowship in Pathology
  • 1+ years of experience preferred - New graduating residents and fellows are encouraged to apply
  • AP/CP Board Certified or Board Eligible
