As a Point of Care Manager, you will manage and ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies (e.g. CAP, ODH, TJC, OSHA, etc.) for the non-waived Point of Care Testing programs on main campus and at the Family Health Centers and non-waived Point of Care Testing programs in the community hospitals. In this role you will act as a Point of Care compliance educator and consultant to clinical operational staff.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

Collaborating with the Point of Care Medical Director and community hospital leadership to develop a standardized Point of Care program throughout the Cleveland Clinic Health System.

Investigating and providing input regarding new Point of Care Testing program proposals. Developing and maintaining the RT-PLMI Quality Management System utilizing recognized principles of quality assurance. Develops oversight metrics to monitor regulatory compliance. Reviewing and evaluating compliance gaps and implementing process improvements. Overseeing and managing Point of Care supervisors and delegating responsibility by analyte and geographic zones.

The ideal caregiver is someone who:
Meets the qualifications of a CLIA Technical Consultant. Has at least three years of experience as a Medical Technologist. Has previous managerial or leadership experience (preferred). Has experience in quality assurance or quality auditing (preferred). This position will require travel to our community hospitals and Family Health Centers on a weekly basis.

This position will be 100% onsite for the initial training period and may transition to a hybrid work schedule, working 1-2 days per week remote.


Responsibilities:


Oversees the Point of Care testing programs: non-waived programs at Main campus and Family Health Centers; waived and non-waived programs at community hospitals.

Develops and implements a management strategy and standardization initiatives in collaboration with the Point of Care Medical Director and Community hospital leadership.

Identifies existing Point of Care Testing programs system-wide and develops an oversight consolidation and standardization strategy.

Evaluates new Point of Care Testing program proposals, assesses compliance risks and suggests course of collaboration with the Point of Care Medical Director, develops metrics and audit plans.

Reviews findings. Identifies gaps and risks.
Implements process improvements to mitigate risk.

Manages accreditation activities (CLIA application/renewal, CAP application, LAP fees, proficiency survey orders, responding to inspection deficiencies, etc.) Directs Point of Care supervisors.

Delegates responsibilities and projects, hires, schedules and manages personnel. Interfaces with Point of Care contacts.
Acts as a Point of Care compliance educator and consultant to clinical operational staff.
Manages purchasing, budget and capital expenditures.
Other duties as assigned.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or Clinical Laboratory Science

Certifications:

None plexity of Work:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:
Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Technologist.
Previous managerial or leadership experience preferred.
Additional experience in quality assurance or quality auditing preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to sit, stand or walk extensively.
May be required to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
May be driving distances throughout central and northern Ohio. Light lifting may be required.
May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, biohazards, radioactive materials, communicable diseases, body fluids, etc.
