Lead Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Managing and overseeing all aspects of the accounting cycle, including accounts payable, receivable, fixed assets, and payroll.
  • Preparing and analyzing financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Performing account reconciliations and identifying/resolving discrepancies.
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Maintaining internal controls and ensuring compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP).
  • Creating and maintaining detailed financial records.
  • Analyzing financial data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Preparing reports and presentations for management.
  • Assisting with external audits.
  • Potentially supervising and mentoring junior accounting staff.

Lead Accountant Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a senior accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices (GAAP).
  • Proven experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
