Position Overview: Join us as a Production Scientist 3 on the IVD Production team where your main tasks will include product manufacturing, ensuring adherence to production schedules, and providing guidance to colleagues. You will also be responsible for training team members and maintaining controlled manufacturing documentation. In this role, you will be actively involved in lab work throughout the day. Our manufacturing processes are extensive, operating on a large scale ranging from 100 to 5000 L, involving the use of large equipment and handling raw materials. Moreover, this position presents ample opportunities for engaging in cross-departmental projects such as validation, equipment procurement, continuous improvement, new product development, and issue resolution.

Job Focus: Your primary focus will be on independently manufacturing products, conducting quality control tests, and supporting the transfer of new products within the team's scope by mastering manufacturing technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently produce a variety of products to meet specifications, following production schedules meticulously to ensure timely delivery of finished goods while being adaptable to shifting business needs.
  • Perform assays to verify products meet quality control standards, including assessing raw materials when required, and troubleshoot by conducting technical evaluations of products and providing recommendations.
  • Design experiments to enhance existing manufacturing and QC processes, execute experimental designs, and analyze data to offer solutions and address challenges effectively.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary teams for product enhancement or development, offering technical support to achieve team objectives. Collaborate on developing project plans, analyzing operational impacts of process/product enhancements, and liaise with Marketing, QA, and R&D teams to understand customer needs for new products and process upgrades.
  • Demonstrate a profound understanding of quality requirements aligned with business and regulatory standards. Uphold good documentation practices, ensure consistent production of quality products and documentation, and adhere to existing policies for data recording and record-keeping.
  • Draft, review, and update protocols and SOPs for clarity, technical content, process enhancements, scale-up, and raw material modifications.
  • Show inclusivity through actions and words, maintaining a safe and respectful workspace, and embody Promega's 6 Emotional & Social Intelligence (ESI) core principles daily.
  • Comply with ethical, legal, and regulatory standards relevant to our operations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A.D., B.S., or M.S. degree in a scientific field (e.g., Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology) plus a minimum of 5 years of postgraduate lab experience in industrial manufacturing operations. A documented history of proficiency in the Core Duties outlined for this role is key for qualification.
  • Proven track record in experimental design and problem-solving relevant to this position.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate scientific findings, engage productively with team members, resolve interpersonal conflicts independently, and contribute to team success.
  • Strong multitasking skills, capable of managing multiple projects/products effectively and possessing excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in using computer applications, including Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the industry.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or cGMP Quality System requirements (e.g., complaint investigation, nonconformance, change control).
  • Experience in utilizing computers for collecting and analyzing experimental data.
  • Self-motivated, creative, with the ability to devise and implement methods to fulfill job requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capability to work at a laboratory bench for extended periods.
  • Ability to handle hazardous materials (e.g., chemicals, radioactivity, electrical equipment) safely to prevent risks to oneself and others.
  • Competence in using standard laboratory protective gear.
