This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2024. Qualifications:

  • Basic Requirements:

Residency Training:

  • - Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine
    - The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
    - Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia

Board Certified or Eligible in Internal or Family Medicine

Physical Requirements:

  • - A physical examination prior to placement is required
    - This is a designated drug testing position
    - After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use
    - Requires lifting 15-44 pounds; pushing (approx 2 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers and both hands; walking and standing from 3-5 hours and kneeling
    - Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously
    - Must have depth perception and ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors
    - Hearing aid is permitted.

Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting The incumbent's assigned duty station will be one of the sites of care within VA Northern California Health Care System.
He/she is responsible for assessment and care of new and returning patients with any number of medical problems (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, ischemic heart disease, COPD, depression, chronic pain).
The care may be delivered via face-to-face, telehealth or video visits though this position may requires occasional travel to VISN or medical centers or Community Based Outreach Clinics (CBOC.
He/she is responsible for ordering diagnostics, consultations, medications, and other therapies as medically indicated, meeting preventative health maintenance needs, completing all required VA computer documentation including clinical reminders and screenings in a timely manner.
Telehealth and/or video visits may only be conducted from sites of care within the VA Northern California Health Care System or VA approved alternate work sites.
He/she may also support the Call Center as well.

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
