The Opportunity:


The Maintenance Technician II, High Performance Work Team position provides essential support for the operational maintenance and sanitation of campus buildings to provide a safe, functional, clean, efficient, and attractive living and learning environment.

The position is responsible for troubleshooting issues and providing service for and responding to customer and staff requests. Ideal candidates will have basic maintenance repair skills and perform basic housekeeping tasks at this level.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform planned and scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and PM repairs (PMR).
  • Perform corrective work defined as restoring equipment, or a space, to a proper working condition.
  • Identify, isolate, and resolve non-critical building and equipment issues.
  • Maintain and replace light bulbs, HVAC filters, ceiling tiles, and unclog & service plumbing fixtures.
  • Conduct basic housekeeping tasks, including but not limited to vacuuming floors, cleaning windows, and removal of trash/recyclables.
  • Assist with work performed by central shops, contractors, other zones, and departments, or with events on campus. Complete work orders in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications:


Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and 3 years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Flexible for utilization by trade with most urgent requirements.
  • Ability to review and understand blueprints and floor plans; and use various metering devices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operation and powered drain-cleaning.
  • Knowledgeable of water and gas shut-off points.
  • Painting knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to communicate in conversational English in order to: work effectively with customers and team members; operate electronic equipment; and comprehend standard safety procedures.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in the following: interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, calculation, reading, evaluating, comprehension, and organizing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Integrated Work Management System (IWMS).
  • Ability to use chemicals approved by Environmental Health and Safety to perform essential job functions.

Health Assessment Required:
UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Additional Application Materials Required:
Two (2) professional references from current or previous supervisor/manager.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:
May be required to participate in respiratory and medical examination training, including the use of respirators.

Position requires a valid Class E driver's license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
