Overview:

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all volunteer program activities for multiple agencies within an assigned region of the organization.


Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arranges for the assignment of Volunteers and provision of Volunteer support to patients/caregivers based on the Volunteer Plan of Care.
  • Attends IDG meetings and acts as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Ensures volunteer needs are assessed upon admission.
  • Supervisor to Volunteer Coordinators in assigned region of the organization.
  • Responsible for meeting the Medicare 5% requirement for volunteer services for each respective agency within assigned region. Tracks monthly cost savings and reports data during QAPI on a quarterly basis.
  • Manages the volunteer budgets. Reports volunteers spend activity on a monthly basis including specific activities performed, costs and compliance with Medicare 5% requirement.
  • Ensures completion of required orientation for all volunteers. Facilitates ongoing education as needed and at a minimum equal with what is provided to paid employees.
  • Engages within local communities to promote Volunteer recruitment and provide education on Hospice Volunteer Services. Provides information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer programs.
  • Evaluates the Volunteer program on an ongoing basis to determine if changes are needed to the services being provided.
  • Investigates and resolves complaints related to volunteer services for assigned agencies.
  • Leads all volunteer people management including, but not limited to recruiting, interviewing, and selecting a group of diverse Volunteers to meet the evolving needs of the patients/caregivers and organization; documents and maintains records of ongoing efforts to recruit and retain Volunteers.
  • Conducts inperson assessment for field activity signoff or patient care visits. Acts as the volunteer to meet the patient/family request, in absence of available volunteer.
  • Responsible for onboarding new volunteers and maintains an updated personnel file for each Volunteer that meets Federal, State, and accrediting body requirements.
  • Ensures timely submission of Volunteer documentation and reviews, cosigns (paper) or accepts (digital) and processes Volunteer notes.
  • Provides ongoing assessments and retention efforts to support the needs of volunteers with regular interaction and encouragement including recognition and celebration of volunteers.
  • Participates in providing, reviewing, and revising written volunteer policies.
  • Accepts and performs other related duties.

Qualifications:

  • College degree, advanced degree in human services Or experience equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years experience in a health care Hospice and/or volunteer experience req
  • Multi-Site Management preferred.
  • Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer
  • Understands hospice
  • Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs.
  • Ability to manage a group of individuals providing volunteer time and who will be considered employees.
  • Ability to travel to and from various office locations weekly and when applicable.
