Four Seasons Hotel New York is seeking an experienced Director of Sales with a passion for excellence and great enthusiasm in providing exceptional service standards.

The Director of Sales provides leadership to the sales team in order to position the property as the premier deluxe hotel/resort in the location. The Director ensures that sales and catering activities and bookings are focused to yield maximum revenue per room occupied.

We are looking for individuals who are proactive and who have a proven track record in sales. The applicant is expected to demonstrate the ability to represent Four Seasons on sales calls as well as participate in travel fairs and exhibitions. Strong management skills would also be a requirement for this role.

What you will do

Recruit, select and familiarize sales and events department personnel with the Hotel, their functions and Four Seasons standards. Train and guide sales and event department personnel in the performance of their duties as to specific position responsibilities, performance techniques, reporting procedures, etc. Conduct performance evaluations and follow up with sales and events personnel for development and coaching opportunities. Perform all supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage the personnel assigned, including but not limited to labor and payroll, compliance training, safety instruction and guidance on expense and travel management Direct sales activities of the Hotel to achieve budgeted and assigned goals. Monitor and identify current and future business trends to insure profitable sales in periods of low and high demand. Assist in the development of the annual marketingplan. Ensure project and business plans are executed for all market areas as stated in the hotel marketing plan with emphasis on increasing sales andprofitability. Supervise the installation of sales and marketing procedures and ensure the hotel is in compliance with all company Minimum Operating Standards. The ability to manage all sellers to achieve targets in all segments (Rooms, F&B, Banquet Spend), ensuring that patterns, optimal mix and seasonal need periods are considered. The ability to coach sellers in all disciplines to negotiate and confirm sales. Assist the Director of Marketing in establishing and directing the development of annual sales goals; ensures goals and incentive programs are fully understood and implemented for maximum achievement. Effectively communicate Conference Services and Catering planning details to internal stakeholders to coordinate seamless delivery of meeting and event experiences. Assist in the preparation of the budget and ensure the department operates within cost constraints, i.e. direct selling costs, etc. Assume responsibility for the Marketing Department in the absence of the Director of Marketing.

What you bring

Applicants are required to have three to five years previous employment in a Group Sales related position. Luxury hotel Sales preferred. Sales or Hospitality Education is preferable, however, not essential if applicants have previous relevant work experience. Regular travel is required with this position. Prior New York experience is preferred.

This is a full-time position. A successful candidate will have a flexible schedule, and the ability to work morning, afternoon and evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.
