This will be the most senior finance individual in the US, with the opportunity to grow into the CFO role as the company grows in the US. The person will be involved in setting up the US bank from a finance and controls perspective, along with other senior stakeholders.

Description

The Financial Controller position for the US Bank is a crucial hands on role and is responsible for building the banks financial infrastructure in the US in all aspects of financial control and reporting.
Responsibilities include the development of the financial control area for the bank including reporting, controls, reconciliation, treasury and regulatory activities. The controller will ensure compliance with relevant SOX reporting.

Key Responsibilities are:

Financial Control:
Financial Accounting - ensure that transactions/business activities are appropriately accounted for
Support the annual audit and financial statement process
Act as the key technical accountant for the bank

Control Environment:
Design, operate and refine control framework/processes relating to IP transaction processing
Balance sheet substantiation in accordance with Group policy.
Ensure all matters pertaining to direct and indirect taxation including transfer pricing are handled in accordance with relevant tax regulators

Support Analysts in the preparation of reporting, budgeting and forecasting through the provision of underlying financial information and business insight as required

Continuous Improvement:
Maintain a log of finance issues with requires remediation and work with stakeholders to develope strategic solutions
Continuously evaluate existing processes and make the changes which enhance efficiency and control

Regulatory Reporting:
Daily reporting of capital, liquidity and other appropriate risk metrics to business management and other stakeholders.
Responsible for the preparation, review and submission of all regulatory returns

Treasury:
Management of the firms liquidity resources within risk appetite and regulatory limits

Team Management:
Managing a team of 3, including a Treasurer (to be hired in Q1 of 2025) and 2 financial accountants (hired in Q3 of 2024)

Project Management:
Act as a financial representative for all change related activities ensuring that business development and growth does not detract from the sound principles of financial control
Working with project teams to ensure the finance requirements are fully documented
Ensure that design (systems and processes) are consistent with finance requirements
Updating of SOP's and risk management actions

Profile

15 years of financial controller experience at a large Bank based in the US.

Hands on financial control, financial reporting and regulatory reporting experience

Transformation and project management experience. This role is "a start up" mode in the US, but has the backing of a well established business in the UK with a full finance function to support it.

CPA required

Entrepreneurial, dynamic mindset

Excellent communication skills

Ability to work in Stamford CT
