The Head of Government Affairs will accelerate the growth of Grindr's business and social impact by engaging U.S. and international government officials to advance our key business and policy priorities.

What's the job?

  • Establish and lead a global government affairs function to advance Grindr's business and policy priorities internationally and in the U

S, including:

privacy, data protection, user safety, decriminalizing homosexuality, ending persecution of LGBTQ+ people, achieving marriage equality, and ending discrimination in access to health care and health insurance.


  • Build and maintain strong working relationships between Grindr and key members of Congress; federal executive branch officials, including at the White House, State Department, and Commerce Department; and select state government officials.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships between Grindr and select international policymakers, including at the EU and in key European and other countries.
  • Leverage these relationships; your expertise in policy and politics; and collaboration with Grindr's Marketing & Communications, Product, Legal, Privacy, and other teams to achieve positive policy outcomes in priority areas.
  • Partner closely with Grindr for Equality (G4E), our Washington, DC-based global social impact initiative, which collaborates with and funds a diverse array of civil society organizations around the world to advance LGBTQ+ safety, health, and human rights.
  • Track and keep company leadership and other internal stakeholders informed of relevant policy developments and trends.
  • Reports to General Counsel & Head of Global Affairs.


Compensation for this leadership role will include a competitive base salary as well as eligibility for equity, benefits, and a company bonus program.

What we'll love about you

  • Demonstrated track record of success in developing and executing strategies to secure major policy wins.
  • 12+ years experience working for and/or with members of Congress or other senior government officials, including 4+ years in government as Chief of Staff; Staff Director; or similar senior staff, appointed, or elected role.
  • Experience and expertise in international policy issues.
  • Passion for our mission to connect and help make the world freer, more tolerant, and more just for our users and the broader LQBTQ+ community.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and experience working with diverse populations.
  • Pragmatic, results-oriented, capable of working effectively with stakeholders across the political spectrum.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.

  • Private sector experience in government affairs at a company or industry association.
  • Understanding of domestic and international privacy and data protection regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience and expertise in foreign relations, defense, international civil rights, public health, and/or humanitarian support.
  • Experience and expertise working with state governments, particularly on issues such as health care, health insurance, and/or public health.
