Summary

Post-Secondary Students are appointed for a maximum of 4 years and may be converted to a career appointment upon meeting specific criteria.


This job is open to:
  • Students: Current students enrolled in educational institutions from high school to graduate level.
  • The public: U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or those who owe allegiance to the U.S.

Clarification from the agency: This position is open to students pursuing a baccalaureate or graduate degree on at least a half-time basis.


Duties
  • Provides information, guidance, and assistance regarding ERISA and related statutes.
  • Assists participants and beneficiaries in obtaining benefits.
  • Conducts research, analyzes data, and prepares information.
  • Educates individuals on their rights and responsibilities under ERISA.
  • Gathers information to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Performs other assigned duties.

Benefits Advisor (Bilingual): Utilizes Spanish language skills as needed to assist office staff and clients.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old and a U.S. Citizen.
  • Currently enrolled in a baccalaureate or graduate degree program on at least a half-time basis.
  • For bilingual position, must be proficient in English and Spanish.
  • Completion of 640 hours of employment for non-competitive conversion.
  • Successful completion of academic and PSS program requirements for conversion.
Qualifications

Applicants must have specialized experience or education equivalent to a GS-5 level.


Education

Applicants must have education and experience relevant to the position.
