General Description of Position

Under the general direction and supervision of the Dean of Student Development, the Administrative Director of Student Engagement & Inclusion plans, organizes, and supervises the day-to-day operations of the

IDEALS
(Inclusivity, Diversity, Engagement, Access & Leadership for Students) Program administering all

IDEALS
educational programming, planning, recruiting, resources, and support processes and activities area-wide.

Develops, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive student inclusivity, diversity, engagement, access, and leadership program that is consistent with the goals and objectives identified by the college and student success division.


The Administrative Director provides leadership for college personnel engaged in providing instruction, programming, resources, and support for the

IDEALS
program college-wide. Work may involve college-wide participation in specific student engagement and inclusion success programs and services. Will require travel to all

SCC

campus locations to perform the essential functions of such services, work onsite with the campus administration and staff on each campus to ensure effective programming, resources, and services for students, and serve as the communication link between staff and campus administration.

Serve as a member of the campus and college administrative units. This is a full-time regular position.

Essential Functions
Administers and oversees the

IDEALS

Program:
Provides leadership for programming and services offered through the

IDEALS
Program. Creates and implements comprehensive strategic planning, and evaluation processes to ensure continuous improvement in the department. Develops strategies intended to improve student inclusion, diversity, engagement, access, and leadership programming, resources, and supports.

Represents the program in area meetings related to Student Success and provides direction for the implementation of approved policies and procedures.

Administer

IDEALS
Program strategic planning and improvement

Continually evaluate and implement

IDEALS
programming, resources, and support as needed to perform needs analysis for student success.

Directs the inclusion and engagement processes and oversees the maintenance of records and completion of required reports in accordance with federal and state regulations and other external restrictions.

Develop, justify, and implement strategic plans for the maintenance and growth of the

IDEALS
programming and services, responsibilities which are consistent with the campus/college goals and objectives.

Work closely with the Institutional Research Department in the collection, analysis, and reporting of data such as enrollment figures, student demographics, testing, and assessment measures.

Serves as a resource to faculty, staff, and administrators in the provision of trend and data interpretation in support of planning, budgeting, grant writing, enrollment management, and assessment activities.

Administers student inclusivity and engagement efforts

Develops programming for recruiting plans for the programs and college, provides direction and leadership to recruiters, and develops new contacts in the recruiting efforts.

Stays current on all recruiting trends and practices. Support and advise students on a regular basis in the administration of inclusivity and engagement efforts.

Recommend for appointment, organize, orient, supervise, and evaluate staff in cooperation with the Vice President for Student Success, Dean of Student Development, peer Campus Student Services Directors, and Campus Administration.

Provide onsite student success and support services; travel and rotate to various campuses as assigned and needed to the representative campus and locations to work with the administration and staff to ensure effective operations in performing the essential functions related to the

IDEALS
programs and services.

Meet regularly with division staff and college staff to assist with activities such as development, coordination, and evaluation of programs and services.

Co-chair the College-wide

Inclusivity Team:
In collaboration with the Dean of Student Development, co-chair a college-wide Inclusivity Team to inform the

IDEALS
program and employee professional development. Serves as a liaison between the

IDEALS
program and the Human Resources division.
Manage Annual Budgets

Responsible for the

IDEALS
Program annual budget, and works with division/college student success staff in developing, justifying, and managing annual budgets.
Cooperation/Coordination/Collaboration

Facilitate coordination and communication between respective college departments as they relate to the

IDEALS
Programs role in creating a positive educational experience for students. Integrate efforts to maximize the

IDEALS
Programs role in recruiting and retention.

Work with other Student Success offices to assist with retention, recruitment, and advising of all students and to provide a welcoming and engaging environment.

Represent the college student development programs on campus/college administrative teams and work groups.

Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with other college instruction and non-instructional divisions, other educational institutions, businesses/industries, and community organizations.

Integrate efforts to maximize the

IDEALS
programs role in recruiting and retention. Attend division and college meetings as deemed appropriate.
Leadership/Management

Provide college-wide leadership, direction, and overall responsibility for the effective operation of the

IDEALS
program. Provide positive leadership in organizing and directing group activities. Facilitate group processes and manage group dynamics targeted at the maintenance and improvement of services provided.
Communication and Public Relations

Provide engagement and inclusion information to current and prospective students, as well as parents, legal guardians, and significant others. Communicate with the stakeholders as needed. Develop and conduct

IDEALS

program presentations and participate in outreach activities, such as New Student outreach, High School outreach, registration advising sessions, New Student Enrollment, New Student Orientation, etc.

Works with community committees and organizations to promote and enhance the college and its activities for student engagement and inclusion.

Develop, design, revise, and update all publications (website, college catalog, and other media) relating to the

IDEALS
program, student engagement, and inclusion. Provide training and materials to college staff regarding the

IDEALS
program programs and services.
Ensures Compliance with Administrative Directives

Reviews, monitors, formulates, revises, implements, and directs campus student services operations and college student engagement and inclusion programs to ensure that operations are consistent with college and campus policies, regulations, and operating procedures.

Informs and assists staff with the interpretation and implementation of directives and any changes in college and campus policies, rules, and regulations.

Participates in Accreditation/Program Reviews

Serves as division representative responsible for evaluation of student success activities being reviewed by outside agencies.
Plans, Supports, and Participates in Professional Development Activities

Responsible for the identification of staff training needs. Participate and encourage staff participation in professional development activities and professional organizations. Maintain current knowledge of college financial aid policies, procedures, and programs. Attend training/conferences as necessary to keep knowledge current.
Promote/Support Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Access

Work toward creating a welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and productive work and learning environment, where all students, faculty members, and college employees are valued and may contribute to their full potential, regardless of their differences.

Make concerted efforts to implement accessible and inclusive practices and processes aimed at creating a diverse and equitable learning and work environment.

Commit to fostering and maintaining a safe environment of respect and inclusion for students, employees, and members of the community, and promote and support the Colleges policies and programming related to access, fair employment,

Promote/Support the Organizational Environment through Goal 9 of the

Strategic Plan:
Promote and support the Colleges organizational environment goals. Maximize operational efficiency by enhancing policies and procedures, staffing, and communication processes and practices.

Enhance positive communication processes and practices, and maximize a positive and engaging organizational environment by encouraging input, reflective and transparent communication, and compassion and respect toward the views and ideas of others.


Marginal Functions

Develops programs and establishes services for student engagement and inclusion.
Makes public presentations.
Frequent and regular presence on all Campuses/College locations.
Represents the college at college fairs, career programs, educational planning programs, etc.
Coordinates office hours and levels of service for the division.
May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required.
Perform other College functions and duties as assigned.
Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College.

Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification.

Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of and experience in recruiting, screening, interviewing, hiring, orienting, supervising, evaluating, and motivating staff. Skill and ability to interview prospective employees, counsel current employees, and conduct performance evaluations of staff.
Knowledge of and skills in facilitating group processes, managing group dynamics, and providing positive leadership. Ability to organize and direct group activities for specific tasks (long-range planning, student recruitment, student retention, advising, assessment, etc.).
Knowledge of post-secondary student services practices, procedures, standards, and legal requirements.

Skills and abilities necessary to maintain a positive environment and level of service for all those who interact with the Student Services Division (including non-traditional students, students with disabilities, racial and ethnic minority students, etc.).

Exceptional communication skills and abilities necessary to maintain a positive understanding of the role and mission of the Student Services division.

Knowledge of and experience with student services functions relating to enrollment, financial aid, and student support programs and services.
Ability to meet the necessary travel requirements of the position.

Knowledge and experience in developing, administering, and interpreting surveys and questionnaires.
Knowledge of methods and strategies to motivate employees. Ability to develop an effective, congenial, and cohesive work unit.

Ability to create and monitor a budget for the purpose of controlling, managing, and planning the activities of specific projects and programs.

Knowledge of and experience with applying professional counseling techniques in a variety of situations.

Ability to apply appropriate computer skills in the use of such software as word processing, database, and statistical software packages.

Familiarity and experience with academic, aptitude, and interest tests and measurement instruments.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to policies of confidentiality.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, changing priorities, and work in an environment with critical deadlines, and perform work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Skill and ability to interpret specialized psychometric test reports designed to identify specific learning disabilities, and to identify appropriate accommodations under the auspices of the

ADA .

Ability to lift and carry up to (50) fifty pounds for short distances, and move tables, chairs, and media equipment.

Ability to communicate effectively both in writing, in person, and on the phone.
Ability to use basic computer skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or Leadership.
Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional-level work experience
*A Masters degree may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required three (3) years of work experience.

Desired Qualifications

Masters degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or Leadership.
Experience using database systems such as Datatel/Colleague/Ellucian/Banner.
Work experience in student engagement and inclusion programming and services.
