Description:

We are looking for a full-time, honest, hard-working, service-oriented maintenance worker to join our team. Responsibilities will include maintaining the overall appearance of the cemetery, mausoleums and funeral home as well as providing general ground maintenance and burial services. The majority of your day will be spent outdoors. **Must be able to work every other Saturday**.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining reverence and respect for the deceased at all times.
  • Trim around trees, walkways and memorial markers, lay sod, move and remove flowers.
  • Clear debris and maintain drives and walkways in safe condition.
  • Move tents and arrange chairs for graveside ceremonies.Install grave markers, bronze memorials, crypt faces, etc.
  • Maintain and repair existing markers and other cemetery features.
  • Locate grave sites and dig graves using backhoe without damaging surrounding vaults, markers and monuments.
  • Maintain overall appearance and cleanliness of funeral home and/or mausoleum facilities.
  • Help with preparation and setup for opening and closing interments, entombments and inurnments.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Must have a caring and professional demeanor and enjoy helping families at a difficult time.
  • Strong work ethic and takes personal pride in their quality of work.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment.
  • Ability to accurately use measuring devices.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable conditions (hot/cold).
  • Must be able to work as a team member.
  • Required to work some Saturdays.
  • Minimum of 6 months general labor or grounds keeping experience.
  • High School Education.
  • Current driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Cemetery industry experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience in operating heavy machinery; back-hoes, tractors, fork-lifts, and tampers is a plus.
  • MUST BE ABLE TO PASS DRUG SCREENING AND BACKGROUND CHECKS.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
