Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer at General Electric Company

Collaboration with multidisciplinary set of engineers to design and analyze mechanical components and systems for aero-thermal test rigs.

To tackle the tasks, you should excel in developing mechanical designs using CAD, applying engineering principles to analyze integrity and performance of components, and leading proof-of-concept ideas to validated solutions.

Effective communication and documentation are crucial. Prepare presentations, slides, and other documents to describe detailed designs and project progress.



Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Design prototype components and subsystems for hypersonic propulsion systems
  • Use 3D CAD for design from proof-of-concept to final manufacturable component
  • Perform 1D calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Design and assemble equipment for product testing
  • Prepare drawings for prototypes and experimental setups
  • Support validation of new designs through testing
  • Interact with cross-functional teams to create innovative design solutions
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and coordinate between various teams and disciplines
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles
  • Proficient with 3D CAD and Microsoft Office Suite


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering + 3 years experience OR High School Diploma/GED + 4 years in design engineering
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance


Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience with FEA and simulations in ANSYS Mechanical
  • Knowledge of fluid system design, compressible flow, and Additive Manufacturing
  • Understanding of GD&T and application to engineering drawings
  • Experience with experimental setups and hands-on equipment
