SUMMARY OF THE JOB This individual is responsible for performing sterile processing procedures that include, decontamination, cleaning, assembly, and transportation of medical instrumentation/supplies/equipment and ancillary services to all requesting departments as required, under the supervision of the SSP Leadership.#

In addition to meeting the basic standards of the Instrument Tech II, the Instrument Tech III is expected to role model and exceed the Standards of Performance.

This position has primary responsibility for the processing activities in the surgical instrument area of SSP, under the supervision of the Manager, Team Leader, Charge Person and Educator.

#

Instrument Tech III will be required to know all work stations and will be a mentor/preceptor to all other employees/new orientees.

This individual must be able to successfully demonstrate the essential functions and responsibilities as specified in the departmental competencies.# Individual must meet/exceed the criteria based performance appraisal.#

Employee must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of accepting pressure assignments, clerical assignments, and all duties relative to the department.

# Employee must be capable of interacting professionally with other employees and departments within the hospital.

# EDUCATION # EXPERIENCE######## Graduate from an Accredited Surgical Technology Program or completed IAHCSMM instrument of patient care certification program for CRCST/CIS.# Must have one year in Sterile Supply as an Instrument Tech II or scrubbing experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES # REGISTRATIONS High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology Program as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or a Sterile Supply CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician)/CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) or a CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution).
