Job Overview: Under the supervision of the RN, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of a specific patient population (ANA Standards of Delegation, 2004). The employee must be able to successfully complete job specific orientation, competencies, and meet/exceed standards as identified in the criteria based performance appraisal.#PCTs must demonstrate awareness of patients# rights in all aspects of patient care and report#issues to the appropriate person. The PCT demonstrates leadership through coordination of unit equipment and activities. Communicates to the RN pertinent findings or observations noted while providing patient care and comfort.#Assist professional staff with basic life support principles.# Unit Description: The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a designated Level III unit.# The unit is comprised of 24 neonatal beds, a parent apartment, and a respiratory therapy area.# Our unit is devoted to providing world-class health care for sick or preterm newborns.# Utilizing the latest technology, and evidence-based medicine, we have built a skilled and experienced team that is devoted to caring for newborns.# We combine family-centered care with expertise and leading-edge treatment to ensure optimal outcomes and emphasize the importance of loved ones in the care of their newborn.# Our NICU services include a Developmental Care program, Neonatal Transport team, 24-hour Lactation services, Parent Support program, NicView Web Cam program and a NICU Developmental Follow Up Clinic.# We enjoy having students and new staff in our unit.# Our staff work closely together. Teamwork is essential in our busy unit.# If you are interested in providing comprehensive, high-quality care, please join our NICU team.## Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education: Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider, within six months of hire.
