The Ultra Finance function leads the budgeting and forecasting processes and supports the strategy process, as well as managing performance against budget.

This role will be senior most accounting support for the Wallingford manufacturing facility.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Accounting Controller with day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the Accounting/Finance Department
  • Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, employer's benefit costs, accruals, and prepaid expenses
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements and budget performance
  • Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from department.
  • Analyses information and options by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying information.
  • Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Supports accounts payable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoice creation and entry.
  • Regularly maintains detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepares documentation for external auditors.
  • Daily reconciliation of cash flows and verification of bank balances.
  • Performs monthly bank settlements.
  • Maintenance of Project Costing
  • Performs all other duties as required, requested, or needed.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree; accounting or finance a plus
  • 3+ years of experience managing transactional accounting tasks in a public or privately held organization
  • Experience with journal entries, monthly and year end close
  • Must be proficient in Excel
  • This position requires either a US Person or a non-US Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
  • Previous experience completing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Strong analytical skills with particular attention to detail
  • Detail oriented with strong time management and organizational skills
  • Familiar working with manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt to change
  • Ability to interact and communicate with multiple levels of the organization
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Experience in financial reporting systems (Costpoint, Visibility or Epicor a plus)
  • Comfortable managing a varied workload, with the ability to identify priority tasks
  • An elevated level of self-motivation and able to work on own initiative
