Job Summary:


The Assistant Director, Student Identity & Engagement, Intercultural Leadership & Programming is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of programming and advising of student leaders for the Office of Student Identity & Engagement (OSIE) and the Intercultural Center.

The Assistant Director will also advise cultural student organizations and support them in their programming. This position will recruit, train, and supervise student staff for the Intercultural Center. They will also work with students to create events for celebration and recognition.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

  • Designs, develops, and implements campus-wide programs that support target student populations and programs that promote diversity, inclusiveness, and cultural awareness.
  • Designs, develops, and implements campus-wide programs aimed to explore and affirm the intersectionality of identities and promote an overall inclusive campus environment.
  • Supports student organizations directly and indirectly affiliated with OSIE across diverse identities and groups.
  • Supervises and trains student staff in the Intercultural Center. Processes all required paperwork for hiring student employees and bi-weekly payroll administration.
  • Serves on cross-department committees and supports programming efforts that align with department goals.
  • Develops and advises a leadership board to execute an annual student DEI retreat or conference and plan the Unity Celebration.
  • Collaborates with Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies (CRES) and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to ensure comprehensive yearlong programming addressing DEI issues and topics.
  • Maintains assessment databases by collecting information about programs, attendance or other items of interest through surveys, evaluations and assessments; assists in the completion of annual reports, and provides reports to the Director as requested.
  • Monitors expenses, submits bills and invoices for processing, tracks and reconciles expenditures for OSIE programming.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Master's degree in related field (preferably higher education, cultural studies, or counseling).
2 years of progressive responsibility in higher education.
Experience working and advocating for students of diverse/underserved populations

Preferred Education & Experience:
Bilingual preferred.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
Valid Drivers License.
Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

Knowledge and skill in working with issues faced by underserved students.
Skill in advising student organizations.
Skill in team orientation and inclusive philosophy to support all University students, faculty and staff.

Skill in Microsoft Office
Ability to provide strong leadership, excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
Ability in demonstrated public speaking.
