Principal Transmission Engineer at Westwood Professional Services, Inc.

Westwood Professional Services is looking for a skilled Principal Transmission Engineer to join their dynamic team.

The Transmission Principal Engineer plays a crucial role in the electric transmission design team, serving as a subject matter expert in the field.

Responsibilities for this position include reviewing diverse projects, guiding junior engineers, and applying expertise in transmission lines to support the company's portfolio of power line projects nationwide.

As a Principal Engineer, you will apply industry standards to project development, review, and knowledge transfer within the team.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as an overhead transmission line design specialist, offering consultation to project teams.
  • Review all aspects of high voltage overhead transmission line projects.
  • Develop technical specifications, QA/QC procedures, and support bid processes.
  • Understand geotechnical reports for foundation design.
  • Mentor lower-level professionals entering the field.
  • Focus on delivering high-quality work and continuous improvement.
  • Travel to various locations to support projects.
  • Utilize design software effectively and mentor team members.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Required Skills
  • 10+ years' design experience in the power industry.
  • PE License.
  • Expertise in related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of software like the PLS Suite.
  • Ability to work independently on complex assignments.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player.
Preferred Experience
  • SE License.
  • Advanced degree in related field.
  • Experience providing technical guidance in the field.
