Director Position Overview

Take the lead as a Director overseeing a team tasked with devising strategies for the future of Walmart's omnichannel supply chain. This role is pivotal and prominent within the organization, requiring impactful and immediate outcomes. Your main responsibilities in this position include:

  • Leading, recruiting, and guiding a team of top-notch supply chain strategists and analytical leaders in an agile, experimental setting.
  • Overseeing and executing end-to-end projects, encompassing cross-functional project management, data analysis, modeling, and presenting insights and recommendations.
  • Creating scalable and intricate supply chain models and processes to enhance supply chain strategies, focusing on customer experience, operational costs, and asset efficiency.
  • Establishing strong partnerships with Walmart departments to identify best practices, gather data, coordinate projects, and garner support for proposed strategies.
  • Spotting areas for improvement and driving execution of results through cross-functional collaboration to achieve quick wins and ongoing enhancements.
  • Securing buy-in from relevant stakeholders and upper management for projects, leading conversations to foster change.
  • Efficiently organizing and utilizing all available resources to ensure project success.

Role Prerequisites

  • Bringing inventiveness and creativity to the table when crafting solutions to refine existing business processes within the supply chain, utilizing statistical analysis, regression modeling, and optimization techniques.
  • Adapting adeptly to ambiguity and making independent decisions on the most suitable data and methodologies for each task.
  • Exceling in communication with individuals and groups across all organizational levels.
  • Possessing experience in managing a team of highly skilled supply chain experts and data scientists.
  • Having expertise in supply chain optimization models and supervision experience.

Potential Projects

  • Developing models to assess the required Supply Chain network for supporting future sales growth, incorporating scenario modeling to understand sensitivity to various factors.
  • Creating an Inventory Planning and Distribution strategy to enhance cost efficiency and customer experience using a tiered storage system and dynamic distribution network.
  • Establishing optimization logic and tools for determining outbound transportation strategies, balancing costs and service level agreement requirements.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience with extensive dataset mining tools and open-source programming languages.
  • Proficiency in network modeling tools, network optimization, and long-term planning.
  • Extensive knowledge of supply chain domains and information systems.
  • Previous experience in the retail industry.
