Introduction
The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) supports State and local government agencies, as well as local non-profit organizations and the citizens of Maryland, by providing facilities management, real estate and surplus property services, as well as security and law enforcement for State buildings.
DGS is also responsible for a full spectrum of facilities engineering, design and construction services, almost $1 billion in annual contract administration, and overseeing the State procurement process.

Main Purpose Of Job
This position assists with the confidential intake of complaints of discrimination by thoroughly interviewing complainants to assist with preparing relevant documentation for preliminary investigation.
This involves reviewing and evaluating the facts of the complaint and explaining applicable laws and regulations to advise complainants and respondents of their rights.
DUTIES
Duties for this position include but are not limited to:
- Provides administrative support such as greeting employees, answering telephones, checking mail, filing, scanning, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
- Coordinates training for the Office of Fair Practices/EEO and assists the Fair Practices/EEO Officer as needed.
- Designs, develops, and manages databases to track mandatory training requirements and other unitspecific data to support Office of Fair Practices/EEO, as required.
- Assists with preparing the DGS EEO Report, and assists with coordinating, preparing, and updating unit policy statements and standard operation procedures
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:
Two years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven knowledge of Federal and State of Maryland Civil Rights laws.
- One to two years of experience working with Microsoft Excel or similar programs, designing, developing, and managing multiple databases.
- One to two years of experience working independently on projects.
