Heat Treat Technician

Job Description Summary


AAM is hiring for a new role of a Heat Treat Technician in Fort Wayne, IN This individual will be responsible for monitoring the heat treatment process until its release.

Ensuring that the correct compliance is in accordance with instructions.

Job Description

  • Ensuring safety in thermal treatment furnace area
  • Utilization of measuring instruments such as: durometer, micro-durometer, carbon analyzer and gas analyzer
  • Acquire/provide resources for direct operators
  • Monitor the fulfillment of the activities such as: production report in Plex system, quality releases, scrap report, check list, etc.
  • Assist in planning, programming, configuration and operation of production flows in work area
  • Assist in production work and provide support when required
  • Responsible for the control of quality processes
  • All other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Education

  • Knowledge of tempering oils, thermocouples and carburizing atmospheres
  • Basic interpretation of drawings
  • Familiarity of metallurgy
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Identification and repair of faults during the thermal treatment process
  • Knowledge in sedimentation testing and grain flow
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
