About the Role:

Purdue University Fort Wayne is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Student Housing department. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance on all university electrical, mechanical, building structure, plumbing, ventilation systems and components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to daily work orders and perform preventive maintenance tasks, including lifting, carrying, and moving heavy equipment and materials.
  • Clean and maintain heating and cooling coils to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Install, repair, replace, and maintain door hardware, plumbing fixtures, and lighting fixtures to ensure a safe and functional environment.
  • Reset breakers, replace fuses, and maintain motor fans to prevent equipment failure.
  • Assist outside contractors in locating facilities and equipment to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Identify and diagnose problems with electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems to prevent costly repairs.
  • Assemble and install furniture, shelves, bulletin boards, and other equipment to maintain a safe and functional environment.
  • Check and assist in logging equipment recordings to ensure accurate maintenance records.
  • Assist outside contractors in locating facilities, equipment, and other resources to ensure efficient project execution.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • At least three years of commercial or industrial general building maintenance experience.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and ability to work at various heights.
  • Valid driver's license and compliance with Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records Check policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vocational or technical training in a related field.
  • Previous experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and preventive maintenance.
