We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Student Housing department at Purdue University Fort Wayne. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance on all university electrical, mechanical, building structure, plumbing, ventilation systems and components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to daily work orders and perform preventive maintenance tasks, including pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and moving 50 to 80 pounds occasionally.
  • Clean heating and cooling coils.
  • Install, repair, replace, and maintain door hardware, plumbing fixtures, and lighting fixtures.
  • Reset breakers, replace fuses and motor fans.
  • Assist outside contractors in locating facilities and equipment.
  • Identify and diagnose problems with electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Assemble and install furniture, shelves, bulletin boards, etc.
  • Check and assist in logging equipment recordings.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED; will consider experience in lieu of education.
  • At least three years of commercial or industrial general building maintenance experience.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push and pull 50 to 80 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work at various heights.
  • Valid driver's license and compliance with Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records Check policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some vocational/technical training.
  • Previous mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and preventive maintenance experience.
