Territory Manager

Role Overview:
The **Territory Manager** is accountable for a designated service territory and oversees route representatives. The primary responsibilities of this role include managing service safety and outcomes for the territory, such as customer retention, business growth, financial performance, employee retention, accounts receivable collection, customer satisfaction, and sales activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and maintain a culture of safety within the organization
- Evaluate, coach, and develop Route Sales Representatives (RSRs) effectively
- Report to a Service Manager or Sr. Territory Manager, or the General Manager in the absence of both
- Foster a sales culture that encourages team selling through programs like Together-In-Growth (TIG) and Shared Lead initiatives
- Assist in new account installations as directed
- Oversee day-to-day customer service operations for the territory
- Regularly visit customers to assess growth and service opportunities
- Ensure prompt resolution of service requests by RSRs
- Set clear service expectations for customers and lead by example
- Travel extensively with service professionals to conduct observations and visit customer locations
- Proactively address accounts at risk and resolve service issues promptly
- Negotiate and secure renewal agreements with existing customers
- Recruit, select, and onboard Route Sales employees
- Conduct weekly meetings with RSRs to review performance trends and identify improvement opportunities
- Provide and participate in training sessions to enhance customer retention and service targets
- Stay in regular contact with RSRs to address any pending issues swiftly
- Attend meetings and complete administrative tasks to enhance customer satisfaction
- Manage collections for accounts receivables
- Ensure proper merchandise control processes are in place
- Investigate and report on all accidents or incidents promptly
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with various organizational functions
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, communication, and customer service skills
- Proficient in computer skills, including MS Office
- Previous exposure to sales functions is advantageous
- Strong skills in management, human relations, and communication
- Majority of time spent driving to customer locations and overseeing employees in the assigned territory
- Exposure to various weather conditions during customer visits
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
- Office environment work with exposure to loading dock and warehouse areas
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
- Two years of service and route-based industry experience
- Previous experience in profit and loss accountability is beneficial
- Customer interface and service experience is essential
- Experience in production planning, maintenance, or warehouse operations is advantageous
- Openness to relocation for career advancement opportunities
- Valid Driver's license
- Personal automobile insurance
- Successful completion of background checks and drug screening
- Physically qualified to drive a Commercial Motor Vehicle as per Company regulations
