Responsibilities

Interns work with senior engineers in the planning, design, and technical execution of mechanical engineering and technical tasks for an assigned test or facility project at a research test facility.

A senior test engineer will mentor all interns/co-ops in the following areas:

Testing projects, including design of mechanical systems and/or test hardware.Oversight of mechanical hardware fabrication, system and hardware installation, data analysis, instrumentation specifications, and final report generation.Analyzing mechanical system requirements to match system capabilities with test requirements.Preparing documentation supporting facility development efforts such as specifications and purchase requisitions for facility hardware.Qualifications
Interns must be working towards a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Aerospace, etc.) or equivalent.General knowledge and understanding of mechanical and electronic test systems involving data acquisition, sensors, signal conditioning, hydraulics, high vacuum, pneumatics, fluid mechanics, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, and mechanical design is desired.
