Career Opportunity as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist at Presbyterian Healthcare Services

Overview

We're looking for a dedicated Peer Support Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Recovery Support Specialist, you'll provide Recovery Coaching to individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges.

You'll help them identify personal and environmental obstacles to recovery, connect them with the recovery community, and act as a guide in managing their recovery journey.

In this role, you won't be a sponsor but a model of resiliency and recovery, showcasing ongoing coping skills.

As a Peer Recovery Support Specialist, you'll collaborate closely with the patient's treatment team and, if necessary, liaise with the patient's family and community.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Registration for Peer Certification class within 6 months of hire

  • Experience in hospital or ED setting preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with hospital staff, funders, and community partners

  • Engage patients using Motivational Interviewing Skills
  • Provide patient assessments
  • Offer Naloxone education in collaboration with medical personnel
  • Comply with regulations
  • Support Patients by sharing personal recovery experiences
  • Handle Patient Logistics for smooth transitions
  • Build Community and positive environments
  • Identify Resources for patients and link them to support services
