SUMMARY

The successful candidate will serve as Sharp's Building Automation System (BAS) Subject Matter Expert (SME), supporting a multi-building pharmaceutical packaging facility / cGMP environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Routinely interact with, operate and monitor the BAS to ensure that Sharp's production and storage locations remain in a state of environmental control as per procedure. Adjust temperature and (where available) humidity setpoints as necessary to maintain occupant comfort levels in all other areas.
  • Actively manage all BAS alarms by promptly 1) acknowledging any BAS alarms and 2) taking action to ensure that any BAS alarms are promptly addressed by the most appropriate resources.
  • Review all alarms from the off-shifts, weekends, holidays, etc. at first opportunity. Communicate any issues / concerns immediately to the Facilities Manager.
  • Create templates as necessary to permit frequent, regular and on-demand trending of, and reporting on, a wide range of temperature, relative humidity and differential pressure data.
  • Coordinate with IT and other resources as necessary to perform regular testing of Sharp's RENO (remote notification) system to ensure that it is operating properly. Take action to ensure that any problems discovered are promptly addressed by the most appropriate resources.
  • Routinely conduct field inspections of BAS related equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Support customer and FDA audits by responding to questions, describing the design and operation of equipment and systems, and providing data, trends and reports from the BAS as requested.
  • Support Sharp Quality representatives in all internal investigations related to the BAS. Complete all tasks assigned in the Sharp QMS on time.
  • Assess the need to repair or replace BAS-related equipment on an ongoing basis as part of the capital and expense budgeting processes.
  • Assist in the development and revision of Sharp Standard Operating Procedures and related documents relative to the operation of the BAS.
  • Promptly diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues with the BAS; identify and implement effective solutions which minimize disruption(s). Likewise, support Facilities Mechanics and vendor partner personnel in the troubleshooting of energy, air quality, safety and scheduling issues related to HVAC systems and the BAS.
  • Routinely identify opportunities for optimization, energy savings and operational improvements within the BAS.
  • Supervise and assist in the installation, configuration, testing, commissioning and/or validation of newly installed or upgraded BAS equipment and software to ensure proper functionality and performance.
  • Recommend, develop and implement improvements and enhancements in the BAS and other systems to increase efficiency and effectiveness, and to maximize quality.
  • Develop, improve and optimize graphical user interfaces.
  • Share technical information, collaborate and coordinate with other technical resources including, but not limited to, representatives of Siemens, Sharp Facilities Mechanics, members of Sharp's Mechanical & Electrical Services Group, Sharp employees at other Sharp commercial packaging sites, etc.
  • Train and provide technical support to Facilities Mechanics on how to interact with, operate and monitor the BAS.
  • Review and provide input to the annual Siemens BAS service contract.
  • Ensure that the BAS complies with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations related to building safety, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
  • Identify, collect and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to the BAS.
  • Perform all of the essential duties and responsibilities described above in support of capital and expense projects which tie into, or otherwise impact, the BAS.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Biopharma experience in a cGMP environment strongly preferred.
  • A thorough understanding of BAS equipment and controls, including design, installation, compatibility, connectivity, operation and preventive/corrective maintenance.
  • Intimately familiar with all aspects of Siemens Desigo, Insight and InfoCenter.
  • Well-versed in industrial and commercial HVAC control strategies and tactics, equipment and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to reliably provide sound judgement in complex situations.
  • Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills to a broad audience.
  • Robust time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision, and in a team environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications.
  • Computer Skills including the full MS Office Suite, one or more brands of QMS, one or more brands of CMMS, and AutoCAD.
EDUCATION
  • Associate's degree in electronics, automation, engineering or other related technical degree, or 4-8 years of industrial building automation experience, including relevant certification(s) and documented, specialized training.
