Job Description

A Clinical Nurse III in Oncology excels in providing nursing care with top-notch technical skills and critical thinking abilities. They have extensive knowledge in Oncology nursing, applying specialized skills in patient care management. As a resource for staff, the Clinical Nurse III ensures patient safety and comfort.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides and documents nursing process components for Oncology patient care.
  • Delivers comprehensive care services to complex patients, including medication administration.
  • Performs skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and venous access initiation.
  • Adapts care plans based on patient conditions and symptoms.
  • Collaborates with teams to implement individualized patient care.
  • Identifies and addresses safety concerns based on patient demographics.
  • Assists co-workers, new staff, and students, serving as a preceptor when needed.
  • Coordinates unit activities when assigned charge nurse duties.
  • Participates in unit meetings and contributes to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Establishes IV access and administers IV therapy as directed.

QualificationsEducation:

Requires an Associates Degree or College Diploma. Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a state-accredited program.

License/Certification:
  • Must have RN California state license.
  • ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification.
  • OCN Oncology Certified Nurse certification.
  • Advance Oncology Certificate Nurse certification preferred.
Experience:

Minimum of three years of RN experience in acute care, with high preference for Oncology specialty. Critical care experience highly preferred.
