Qualifications:
Company is a high-tech business focusing on hardware and software system 
design and integration, cutting-edge research and development, and 
manufacturing. Leader in areas of guidance and control, and high reliability 
systems. In this role, you will be required to lead the engineering group to 
design, test, and provide production support of current and next generation 
weapon systems for the Department of Defense. 
The successful Sr Engineering Manager candidate will provide expert 
leadership and guidance at all levels of the engineering organization and 
demonstrate the ability to contribute in a meaningful technical capacity to 
engineering tasking while managing the organizational needs of and 
ensuring performance excellence of a mid-sized engineering department. 
Key Responsibilities of the SEM:
1. Collaborative Decision-Making :
o Working closely with the Program Manager,  Chief Engineer , and engineering 
leads to make critical decisions regarding:
 System Architecture : Ensuring the system design aligns with customer 
needs and is scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective.
 Design Choices : Evaluating trade-offs between competing technologies and design approaches.
 Technology Selection : Choosing appropriate technologies that meet the performance, cost, and schedule constraints.
2. Technical Leadership :
o Technical Beacon for the Organization : Providing direction and guidance on 
technical issues, helping teams make informed decisions while adhering to best 
practices and industry standards.
o Leading the creation of  system requirements that are clear, measurable, and 
aligned with customer needs.
o Requirement Allocation : Ensuring the system requirements are appropriately 
broken down and allocated to subsystems, elements, and components.
3. Verification and Validation :
o Collaborating with the team to define comprehensive verification and validation
(V&V) plans  that ensure all requirements are met.
o Ensuring that V&V activities are fully executed, which may include testing, 
simulations, and review processes.
4. Stakeholder Management :
o External Collaboration : Working with external stakeholders, such as customers, 
partners, and vendors, to resolve issues and align on solutions.
o Cross-Functional Collaboration : Facilitating communication between 
engineering disciplines, operations, and other departments to ensure smooth 
execution of the program.​
5. Problem Solving and Resolution :
o As the SEM, you will need to actively engage in troubleshooting and addressing 
technical challenges.
o Recommending Solutions : Helping the team navigate roadblocks and 
recommending changes or solutions that ensure system performance meets 
deployment needs.
6. Risk Management :
o Identifying technical risks early, quantifying their impact, and working with the 
team to develop mitigation plans.
7. Customer Satisfaction and Deployment :
o Ensuring that the final product aligns with the customer's vision and performance 
expectations.
o Overseeing the system's readiness for deployment by ensuring all requirements 
are validated and performance goals are met.
In this position the SEM will be operating in two capacities: 
1) ~ 20% management of the team’s functional groups (System Engineering,
Integration & Test (SEIT), Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, 
Mechanical Engineering and Design, and Configuration/Data Management.
The management role includes all aspects of staff management, including 
recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching/mentoring, career 
development, performance management, compensation management, and 
separation of assigned employees.
2) ~ 80% direct charge for program tasking.
Engineering development design or test tasking depending on the phase of 
each program
Proposal leadership, technical strategy and cost estimating. C

opportunities.

Essential Qualifications and Skills
 Recent, hands-on engineering experience  in embedded electronics, weapon systems, or similar DoD-related programs (within the past 4 years).
 Leadership : Proven track record of building and leading high-performing, 
multidisciplinary teams in the defense or aerospace sector.
 Technical Expertise : Extensive knowledge of weapon systems ,  embedded systems , 
and electronic hardware/software integration in complex defense environments.
 Risk Management : Experience in developing and executing risk management strategies for complex programs, with an ability to manage technical, schedule, and cost risks.
 Innovation and Technology Roadmaps : Demonstrated ability to lead new technology initiatives and collaborate across programs to leverage cutting-edge solutions.​
 Development and Production Stages : Expertise in managing the full lifecycle of weapon systems development, from design and prototype through to low-rate production 
and factory validation.
 Operational Oversight : Strong ability to set operational goals, measure performance, and hold teams accountable while driving continuous improvement.
 Stakeholder Engagement : Excellent communication skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, customers, and cross-functional 
teams.
 Proposal and Business Development : Familiarity with proposal processes, including technical contributions to  DoD contract bids , business development
