FSQA Manager Summary:
The Sr.

FSQA Manager is responsible for developing and implementing FSQA programs to ensure finished products meet or exceed company, customer, and industry standards.

This role oversees all aspects of plant and corporate operations, including quality integration, USDA compliance, and maintaining the highest product quality standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage FSQA technicians, supervisors, and NSIS staff in a pork harvesting facility. Develop, train, and supervise plant FSQA and NSIS hourly staff. Provide technical resources to department managers and report quality deviations. Lead and monitor food safety and quality assurance programs. Communicate product quality issues with operations, purchasing, and suppliers. Guide supervisors on product dispositions. Investigate quality complaints and implement corrective actions. Conduct HACCP and GMP audits and employee training. Prioritize tasks related to customer focus and USDA concerns. Ensure timely release of products on hold. Participate in cross-functional management teams. Act as the USDA facility contact. Prepare for and participate in third-party customer audits. Directly oversee FSQA technicians, supervisors, and NSIS; may indirectly oversee lab technicians, sanitation, and production staff. Occasionally fill in for the Director of FSQA or FS Regulatory Manager. Assist in R&D projects with quality issues.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a related field (food or meat science) or 4 years of experience in the meat industry, particularly pork, with supervisory experience.

Strong management skills and adaptability to a fast-paced environment are essential.

Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Must be able to write reports and business correspondence.

Language Skills:
Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents in English. Effective communication with management and external entities is essential.

Mathematical Skills:
Strong analytical and metric-based skills. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Proficient in interpreting technical instructions in various forms.

Other Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and industry-standard programs. Basic understanding of statistics. Valid driver's license required for occasional travel.
