Job Summary:

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for co-managing the configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization in partnership with a Managed Service Provider (MSP). This role involves the collaborative support and administration of various IT systems to ensure the stability and integrity of the organization's IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team both internally and alongside the MSP.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaboration with MSP: Work closely with the MSP to co-manage IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
  • System Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.
  • Asset Management: Tracking and managing assets from procurement to disposal. Assets include both software and hardware, not limited to but including license keys, proof of purchase, and renewals.
  • Workstations: Manage workstation procurement, assembly, upkeep and retirement that aligns with organizational goals and budget constraints.
  • Security: Assist in the implementation of and maintain security measures to protect IT infrastructure from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Monitoring and Performance: Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal availability and reliability.
  • Backup and Recovery: Manage data backup and recovery processes to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity and network issues in a timely manner.
  • Audit Support: Provide assistance to the leadership team regarding any soft or hard audits in relation to assets being managed by you.
  • Application Support: Become a Subject Matter Expert on all core business applications. Examples include Office 365, Bentley and Autodesk.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of IT systems, configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Project Management: Assist in planning and implementing IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest technology trends and best practices to continuously improve IT processes.
Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in system and network administration.
  • Experience with Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android OS.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies.
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and experience with security management tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical users.
Working Conditions:
  • This position may require occasional after-hours work for system maintenance and upgrades.
  • On-call support may be required to address critical issues.
