About Plainfield Correctional Facility

The Plainfield Correctional Facility is a crucial part of the Indiana Department of Correction, dedicated to enhancing public safety by providing effective re-entry opportunities.

Our goal is to implement leading correctional practices, reintegrate productive individuals into society, and foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and professionalism.

Located in Plainfield, Indiana, the facility serves as a medium-security correctional center for adult males.

At the Plainfield Correctional Facility, we offer tailored resources and treatment for mental health, substance use, and various educational programs.

Our aim is to equip incarcerated individuals with the necessary skills and confidence during their time here, preparing them for a successful re-entry into the community.


Salary:
The starting salary for this role typically begins at $47,320.00, with potential adjustments based on educational background and relevant work experience.


A Day in the Life:

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide direct supervision to the Correctional Caseworker team to ensure compliance with policies and procedures through regular quality assessments.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate correctional caseworkers, identifying individual strengths and areas for improvement, and conducting performance assessments in line with departmental guidelines.
  • Assess the risks and needs of each assigned offender using the Individual Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS).
  • Collaborate with facility staff on re-entry and release issues, offering both group and individual programs as needed.
  • Work with the classification department to make suitable recommendations for offender classifications.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for new offenders entering the facility.
  • Maintain a high level of security within the unit and facility.

Requirements for Success:

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of two years of experience in social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.


Substitutions:
Each year of related education can substitute for a year of the required experience.

  • Obtain the Indiana Risk Assessment System Certification within 90 days of hire through the Indiana Office of Court Services.
  • Pass all drug screenings.
  • Successfully complete mandatory training, including the DOC Supervisory Training Program, First Aid, and CPR courses upon hiring.
  • Demonstrate strong written documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in organization, prioritization, and staff management.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with staff and offenders.
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques.


Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role involves supervising incarcerated individuals and requires sound judgment and meticulous care. Additionally, you may directly supervise one or more staff members.
