Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Systems Engineer to join our team

We are seeking a Principal Systems Engineer with a deep expertise in secure cloud computing and architecture, focusing on enabling tenants to efficiently manage their applications across varying security environments (Impact Levels 2-6) through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation. This role is essential for creating scalable, innovative solutions that streamline operations within classified networks, ensuring both compliance and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in facilitating tenant operations using advanced IaC frameworks and automation tools, significantly reducing manual overhead while maintaining high-security standards.

What You'll Be Doing:

Design and implement cloud-based architectures that support tenant application management across lower to higher security domains using IaC and automation.

Utilize expert knowledge of cloud-native tools, IaC frameworks (such as Terraform), and automation technologies to establish efficient pathways for tenant operations transitioning between different security levels.

Lead initiatives focused on the innovation of tenant enablement solutions, ensuring they adhere to stringent compliance standards while maximizing operational efficiency through automation.

Serve as a subject matter expert in secure cloud architecture with a strong emphasis on IaC and automation practices, advising on best strategies for scalable tenant management within strict regulatory frameworks.

Guide strategic planning efforts to align technological solutions with organizational needs for efficient application management across varying levels of sensitivity.

Key Relationships:

Internal Contacts: Collaborates with internal teams to integrate advanced IaC and automation practices into all project phases effectively.

External Contacts: Coordinates with external stakeholders including CSPs offering services capable of supporting advanced tenant enablement operations.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent technical/scientific discipline related specifically to computer architecture. An advanced degree is preferred at this level.

A minimum of 10 years related professional experience focusing significantly on enabling tenants through the use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and comprehensive automation strategies.

Relevant certifications demonstrating expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation practices, or DevOps methodologies are highly desirable. These may include: HashiCorp Certified - Terraform Associate, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional, Microsoft Certified - Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Kubernetes Certification (CKA/CKAD). These certifications underscore a comprehensive understanding of implementing scalable infrastructure management practices through automated processes, emphasizing skills crucial for developing effective tenant enablement solutions within secure cloud environments.

Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating complex concepts related to IaC and automation clearly to both technical teams and decision-makers.

Deep understanding of deploying scalable infrastructure using cloud-native tools alongside advanced knowledge of IaC frameworks such as Terraform.

Proficiency in system engineering tools relevant to automated environments; experience with configuration management tools advantageous for streamlining deployments across security domains using DevOps principles.

Strong analytical skills combined with the ability to manage complex challenges; adept at prioritizing tasks effectively under tight deadlines within highly regulated contexts.
