About the Position:
This role at Harris County Public Library involves creating and managing programs tailored for an adult audience. It requires delivering exceptional customer service, providing readers advisory, and offering basic reference assistance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Deliver customer service, readers advisory, and basic reference services both within the library and beyond
- Promote library services to adults and the community
- Collaborate with the branch team to develop, implement, and market programs
- Cultivate relationships with local organizations
- Curate an engaging library collection
- Attend meetings, activities, and professional conferences
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent; Associate degree with relevant experience; High school diploma or G.E.D. with extensive experience
- Verifiable program experience and customer service background
- Transportation for work-related duties
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, social media platforms, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment
- Experience working with adult groups (preferred)
- Bilingual proficiency (preferred)
Work Details:
- Position Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Shifts: Day, Evening, Nights, Weekends, etc.
- Possible meetings, council sessions, and off-site events
Salary:
$19.53 Per Hour, Paid Biweekly
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Office environment with computer use
- May involve outdoor work with exposure to weather changes
- Long periods of sitting and occasional physical activity up to 40 pounds
Reporting Relationships:
- Reports to Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager - Adults
- Location: Aldine Branch Library in Houston, TX 77037
