The Arc of Indiana is a state-wide, not-for-profit association that advocates for and with people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families.

We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer to join our leadership team.

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Responsibilities

The COO will make a significant contribution to the development and implementation of the overall strategic plan and mission for The Arc of Indiana.

The COO will work closely with the CEO in maintaining a professional, productive and supportive work environment for The Arc and its team of employees.

The COO will work with the CEO on all personnel and benefit matters.

The COO will represent The Arc of Indiana at Chapter board meetings, annual meetings and other organizational meetings when appropriate.

The COO will represent The Arc of Indiana at national meetings of The Arc when appropriate.

The COO will work to cultivate and strengthen relationships with local chapters of The Arc, potential chapters of The Arc, and other professional partners and stakeholders.

The COO will strengthen and support local chapters by increasing local chapter's involvement with state and national activities, providing technical assistance as need to Chapters, linking and partnering more closely with other initiatives of The Arc including best practices which creates collaborative communities among chapters.

The COO will meet as needed with the State Administration and other entities to represent The Arc's perspective on the various factors impacting services and supports to people with disabilities, their families and our chapters.

The COO will work with the CEO to utilize a strategic planning process appropriate to identify, initiate, coordinate and evaluate organizational support and growth activities.

The COO will review, update and create policies and procedures for The Arc of Indiana and its subsidiaries as needed.

The COO will work with the Board of Directors and other committees of The Arc to plan and execute organizational development campaigns; program services and special projects that support self-advocates, families, chapters and members.

The COO will oversee a team who works directly to develop and implement programs and supports that create opportunities for people with disabilities and their families to live a good life that they envision.

Qualifications

The Arc of Indiana seeks a proven leader with a passion for improving the lives and opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Indiana.

The selected candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills as well as be a relationship-based leader.

Personal qualifications include the interest and ability to build a strong, supportive culture and be able to manage and lead a complex organization with several subsidiaries.

We are seeking a creative, intuitive thinker with high emotional intelligence as well as a strong business mindset.

The selected candidate will apply The Arc's mission to those we advocate alongside of as well as The Arc of Indiana's internal team.

Experience and knowledge in the disability field is preferred but not required.
Experience and knowledge about the legislative process is preferred but not required.
A bachelor's degree is required.
