About the Position and the Company

The Child Activity Center Leader at YMCA creates positive relationships with children, fosters connections with parents/caregivers and colleagues, and supports the growth and development of all youth in programs. This role plays a crucial part in delivering holistic child development programs and ensuring a quality experience for children and families.


Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 16 years
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completed semester units in Child Development, human services, or related fields (preferred)
  • Prior experience working with children in group settings, particularly with diverse populations (preferred)
  • Strong values in respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring
  • Effective communication skills and emotional maturity
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications for Adult, Infant, and Child
  • Completion of child abuse prevention training
  • Successful completion of an E-Verify check

Responsibilities

  • Nurture children through purposeful programming focused on their achievement and sense of belonging
  • Supervise children closely and organize the environment based on their needs
  • Implement positive behavior management strategies
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and program guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with parents/caregivers and engage them in the program
  • Attend events, meetings, and trainings as required
  • Adhere to all YMCA policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders
