Position Description. The Tool Room Repair Representative is a critical role within Baker Electric, Inc., located in Des Moines, IA. The position will be responsible for overseeing the tool repairs upon return from jobs, including but not limited to, maintaining tool inventory, assisting in fleet maintenance as needed and ensuring all the tools and equipment are in working order and available when needed.*Must be willing to join IBEW Local Union 347.*This position will serve backup duties for stockman and material deliveries when prompted, prefab fabrication assistance when prompted and snow removal and site maintenance when prompted.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Assume complete responsibility for all aspects of the Tool Repair
  • Manage the tool repair to make sure tools and equipment are in working order and available when needed. Any tools that cannot be repaired internally and needing repair from outside sources or factory warranty replacement must be organized for shipment and freighted in a timely manner.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly checked and inspected in the tool department and at jobsite in compliance with OSHA standards and requirements
  • Inspect tools and equipment; (OSHA requirement), to be compliant with OSHA standards and requirements
  • Keep tool repair area clean and orderly at all times
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, OSHA, and safety programs as established.
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Warehouse manager/ Division Manager / Executive Team with recommendations for resolution.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.

Preferred Education and Experience (Knowledge)
  • Minimum 1-3 years related experience
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Familiarity and experience with Electrical Lineman tools and equipment
  • Have an excellent attitude towards safety and firm adherence to safety protocols, Company operating policies, procedures, OSHA, and safety programs as established
Required Attributes and Competencies (Skills)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Excel formulas and formatting
  • Familiarity with Windows based operating systems and web based applications, include ERP systems or other construction/financial software packages
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, and other electrical, technical, or construction programs
  • Must demonstrate integrity, honesty, professionalism and commitment to company values
  • Must have ability to build positive working relationships with multiple levels of employees, management, suppliers, and customers
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills
  • Must demonstrate ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects and to meet frequent deadlines
  • Must have high standards of quality with attention to detail
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, effectively in the English language
