Reporting into the Director of Quality, this individual will work serve as a Supplier Quality Engineer, leveraging both highly effective analytical skills and technical knowledge to support a nearly $1 Billion packaging supply organization.


The Quality Engineering Team is an extension of the Supply Chain Team, with an emphasis on Quality Assurance and Key Customer support.

The Supplier Quality Engineer will hold primary responsibility for managing the daily activities of our Quality Programs that will be developed to support our key customers.


The role of Supplier Quality Engineer provides exposure to various market segments and the entire spectrum of rigid packaging technologies and molding platforms and plays an integral role in directly supporting our key customers.


Tactile Essential Functions:
Develop and lead quality assurance program for specific quality programs and key accounts. Multiple quality assurance programs will need to be established to meet the individual quality requirements of each key account.

The customer's quality expectations and requirements should be identified, and a proposal of quality program management should be included for each strategic account.

Plan will need to be formalized and presented for customer alignment
Regular engagement / cadence with identified disciplines / individuals at the customer level is important to continue to evaluate and modify the existing quality program
Develop regular cadence for meeting with identified individuals at the account including but not limited to operations, supervisors, etc.
Keep track of cadence, discussion points, action items, etc.
Once quality assurance program is established for each key account, the supplier quality engineer with engage with the account's top suppliers and review expectations and requirements with key stakeholders

Establish vendor scorecards for each key account which capture critical performance metrics as they relate to customer specific quality requirements.

Identify gaps in performance and corrective action
Collaborate closely with Divisional Supply Chain Directors to share vendor scorecards (quarterly) to support strategic, national evaluation of vendor performance
Work closely with Supply Chain Director to identify key divisional customers and quality requirements. Evaluate various levels of quality support that are available and make recommendations as to how the company can take a more proactive role in addressing quality (especially for key customers and "task force high potential customers")

Strategic Essential Functions


Reviews roles and responsibilities as they relate to the interface between Quality, Supply Chain and PC (and AC) and makes recommendations for best practice (for other divisions.

Identification of strategic opportunities to enhance engagement between disciplines should be shared and reviewed with the broader supply chain team
Support establishment of best practice quality program for key account so that a template can be given to other divisional supplier quality engineers as these roles are added to allow collaboration among divisions
Evaluate current lab support services and capabilities to make recommendations to expand and enhance capabilities based upon identified regional requirements
Identify strategic initiatives which will help to optimize resource utilization by the lab vs. resources available to us at the manufacturer. Focus on delivering and enhancing value-added services in a way that addresses the customers' greatest pain points (for example, focus on functional interface of different components at our lab versus incoming inspection)
Collaborate with Global Support Center's Quality Assurance Director with the establishment of package test protocols, SOP's to support Key Divisional Customers
Work closely with company's extensive vendor base troubleshooting for existing items and identifying root cause and corrective actions
Identify suppliers that can support key customer's quality initiatives based on audit reports and pertinent criteria

Technical Requirements:
College degree in Packaging / Quality / Engineering discipline preferred but not required

AND / OR

Experience within technical environment / Laboratory (preferably packaging industry)

Understanding of formal test methodology and equipment
Experience performing and/or managing primary laboratory testing
Strong analytical skills and technical writing skills
Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong organizational and follow-up skills
Ability to work independently within a rigorous deadline schedule
Ability to function in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word)
