Drake's Brewing Company is a top 10 Northern California craft brewer. We are looking for a Packaging Manager at our San Leandro location.
The Packaging Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the entire packaging team, overseeing the packaging process, quality, safety & team development.
ResponsibilitiesScheduling packaging employees & ensuring packaging employees are trained on safety, equipment, policies and all SOPs.
Ensuring that beer is packaged properly to specifications (e.g., fill-height, DO levels, and seaming standards) and meets company standards
Ensuring the packaging hall is cleaned and maintained so required production can proceed; ensure that all packaging staff keep all work areas clean and organized
Developing and maintaining SOPs for all aspects of packaging
Maintain daily logs (e.g., packaged and released logs, etc.)
Collaborating with brewing & logistics teams to schedule, operate & supervise all runs of packaged beer (e.g., kegging & canning).
Responsible for monthly inventory of packaging materials (e.g., packaged inventory ties to what is received in the warehouse)Ensuring that all machines are being operated by a trained employee and all guards and safety equipment are in place and working properly
Identify process-related packaging issues and form recommendations for solutions, following through to ensure process refinement.
Work with Director of Packaging to develop daily checklists to ensure all necessary tasks are being completed (opening, closing, cleaning, etc)
Supporting & leading a team through effective communication and motivational skills
Write and give yearly reviews for all packaging staff
Enter all packaging logs into ERP software quickly and accurately
Providing relevant support to the packaging team & assisting in acquiring the needed information to develop the team and team members
Assist in the coordination & completion of repackaging product
Assist packaging staff on canning or kegging line as necessary
Requirements
5+ years' experience in a production brewery/manufacturing environment with a history of continued development professionally.
2+ years' experience working in beverage packaging
2+ years' of supervisory experience
Strong technical understanding of machinery and sanitation
Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
Ability to lead well in a fast paced, chaotic environment under tight deadlines
Effective coaching, facilitation, and team building skills
Strong alignment to company culture and values
Self-motivation and ability to work independently and with limited direction
Ability to collaborate and work well with management, peers and across functions
Strong communication and interpersonal skill

Ability to drive and operate a forklift
