Major duties include but are not limited to:
  • Provide information, guidance, and assistance to entities regarding ERISA and related statutes and regulations.

  • Develop recoveries and referrals according to standard operating procedures.
  • Explain laws and regulations, work with employers to resolve benefit issues.
  • Conduct research, analyze data, and present information.
  • Identify and respond to inquiries.
  • Review benefit eligibility.
  • Identify potential disputes requiring investigation.
  • Educate individuals on rights and responsibilities.
  • Assist with outreach events and disseminate information.
  • Gather information for program assessment.
  • Maintain databases and support policy decisions.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Benefits Advisor (Bilingual) regularly use Spanish translation skills and provide bilingual assistance as needed.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment
  • Must be at least 16 years old and a U.S. Citizen.
  • Candidate required to obtain necessary security clearance.
  • Probationary period if requirements are not met.
  • For bilingual position, must be proficient in English and Spanish.
Qualifications

Eligibility under the College Graduate authority requires meeting requirement A or B.
A. Applicants who have completed a bachelor's or graduate degree within the previous two years.
B. Veterans with a qualifying degree and four years of service in uniformed services.
In addition to eligibility, applicants must meet education/experience requirements. For bilingual roles, proficiency in Spanish is required. Specialized experience or education equivalent to GS-7 level is necessary.

Education

Falsely claiming an academic degree may lead to disqualification. Foreign education comparability must be demonstrated if applicable.
