Communications Manager

join our US-based team, working either from LA or NY.

About the role


Join us in supporting Movember's communications strategy in the US market Your role will focus on refining our ability to articulate key messages and simplify complex health information for broader understanding.

We're seeking someone who is media-savvy, skilled in engaging with journalists, and capable of nurturing an authentic in-house media function.

You'll play a vital rolein enhancing our presence across credible media outlets, including key publications. As we aim to elevate our communication efforts, you'll tackle complex challenges, transforming intricate concepts into accessible content. This position offers the opportunity to grow and refine your skills while contributing to meaningful narratives in men's health.

You will have the opportunity to work flexibly, blending your time between home and our LA or NY offices. The salary offered is $90k - $95k per annum, with generous paid leave benefits.

You'll have the opportunity to

Drive Movember's brand awareness and fundraising through our flagship campaign.
Develop and execute annual US PR strategy, including media relations, content partnerships, and local plans for maximum impact.
Communicate year-round impact initiatives, leveraging global plans locally and proactively engaging stakeholders and media.
Champion thought leadership, identifying media and policy opportunities while promoting regional successes.
Manage agency relationships for creative concepting, media training, and plan implementation.
Secure local media coverage and build lasting relationships to enhance Movember's reputation.
Collaborate with Fundraising & Partnership Teams to activate integrated brand partnerships and highlight impactful storytelling.
Facilitate internal communication across global and in-market teams throughout PR activities.
Manage risk by responding to challenging inquiries and monitoring organizational risks associated with PR activities.
Localize and manage communication assets, including press materials, spokesperson training, and crisis comms.
For this role, you'll need

5+ years' experience in Communications/PR for leading brands, a publicist with a keen news instinct.
Experience managing a PR agency on multiple campaigns.
Experience working with celebrity talent and spokespeople.
Experience in engaging with C-level suite and different stakeholders.

Well-connected in the media world, showing real understanding for earned media in the US and how they work with other types of media.

Passionate about the news cycle and journalism trends.
Superior writing skills, able to cover light to complex materials, telling a compelling story.
Effective communication skills to influence outcomes with obsessive attention to detail.

Ability to see the big picture, as well as rolling up sleeves to take on the menial executional tasks that come with working for a growing charity.

Strong interview preparation skills.
Ability to make sound decisions quickly and efficiently.
Extremely organized and adept at managing timelines, budgets, and reporting.
Bonus points for

Intimate and broad knowledge of the US media landscape
Marketing, brand, and content experience
Experienced and savvy in technology and social media practices and tools
