Under the direction of the Information Officer II in the Media Relations Section in Sacramento, the Information Officer I will assist with the Authority's comprehensive media and communications program.

While the incumbent will report directly to and receive assignments from the Information Officer II, direction and assignments may also come directly from the Deputy Director of Communications and/or the Chief of Strategic Communications.

The incumbent will research, plan, write, edit, and prepare a wide range of informational materials for dissemination to the media, stakeholders and the public regarding the activities and objectives of the California high-speed rail program.

The incumbent will be responsible for researching information, preparing talking points, preparing digital content for review, writing press releases, and will also be responsible for developing and pitching stories to local, regional, and non-traditional media outlets.

The incumbent will also assist with the planning and execution of official events, managing and drafting of correspondence, and other duties as required.

This advertisement is posted as Open Until Filled and the advertisement will remain open until the vacancy is filled.

Working Conditions
Part-time telework is available for this position for California residents based on the requirements of the position. Hiring interviews may be available virtually, using teleconferencing or video conferencing options.

While working on-site, the incumbent works in a professional office environment, in a climate-controlled area which may fluctuate in temperature and is under artificial light.

The incumbent will be required to use a computer, mouse, and keyboard, and will be required to sit for long periods of time at a computer screen.

Employee must be able to focus for long periods of time, multi-task, adapt to changes in priorities, and complete tasks or projects with short notice.

The High-Speed Rail Authority headquarters building is located in downtown Sacramento on the corner of 8th and L Street.

We are located one block away from the 8th and Capitol light rail stop, as well as the 7th and Capitol light rail stop.

The building is also within walking distance of DOCO, the California State Capitol Park, a farmer's market during summer months, and Old Sacramento.
