Duties & Responsibilities
The selected individual will carry out the duties and responsibilities of the Women's Basketball Assistant Coach role, aligning with the CEO, AD, and Head Women's Basketball Coach. It is crucial to fully embrace and uphold the mission and goals of the Air Force Academy, Department of Athletics, and AFAAC. Key tasks include:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supporting the head coach in the overall management and direction of the varsity Women's Basketball program.
- Aiding in all aspects of team operations, training, competition, and scheduling under the head coach's guidance. Providing coaching and individual guidance to all varsity Women's Basketball players.
- Contributing to the recruitment of top cadet candidates, following NCAA regulations and institutional guidelines.
- Managing and participating in all varsity practices and games.
- Potentially serving on national committees when opportunities arise.
- Assisting in the coordination of AFAAC-sponsored sports camps and clinics for Women's Basketball.
- Helping the Head Coach with travel logistics, such as hotel bookings, transportation arrangements, and team meals.
- Building positive relationships with campus stakeholders and maintaining connections with the Prep School Athletic Department to enhance student-athletes' academic and social experiences.
- Collaborating with the Athletic Director and Head Coach on additional assigned tasks.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
- May be involved in other duties relevant to the position's level, such as committee involvement and student recruitment and retention efforts.
