The MilitaryStudent Services Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing management ofveteran student certifications including verifying eligibility, certifyingenrollment, and reporting grades, withdrawals, and corrections. The MilitaryStudent Services Coordinator acts as a liaison between the Office of theRegistrar, the Department of Veterans Affairs, academic departments andacademic advisors regarding veteran benefits. This position acts as a keymember of the Office of the Registrar and is responsible for the ongoingupdates of printed catalog and degree sheets.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Interpret federal, state, and institutional policies and professionally communicate these to faculty, students, and staff. Maintain a current understanding of academic policies, procedures, and processes related to student records. The Office of the Registrar is accountable for compliance with institutional and OSRHE policies.
  2. Provide services to veterans in relation to the certification of the student to the Department of Veterans Affairs for Educational Benefits including, but not limited to, initial enrollment and certification, adjustments to certifications, end of semester reporting of grades, and use of the VAOnce certification program.
  3. Collaborate with Student Life and Communications to provide services and opportunities to current students, such as Veterans Day activities. Partner with Recruitment on outreach to prospective military populations.
  4. Manage policies and procedures related to the assessment of military experiences including but not limited to Joint Service Transcripts and related credit.
  5. Assists with ongoing maintenance of University Catalog, including course descriptions and academic degree sheets.
    Retain accurate student records and maintain student confidentiality by observing policies related to student privacy (FERPA).
  6. Provide frontline Registrar Services support and assist with end of term degree awarding activities as needed.
  7. Respond to student requests and complete position duties in a timely fashion to help promote student satisfaction and retention.
  8. Assist in campus wide retention and enrollment efforts as applicable to position.
  9. Participate in departmental documentation and process improvement efforts; exhibit an understanding to this positions role in the campus semester plans, standard operating procedures, key performance indicators, etc.
  10. Assists with ongoing review of student records and assists with data corrections as needed for internal and external reporting.
  11. Scan all incoming documents to the student electronic file. Maintain a document verification and destruction schedule in compliance with state historical record management policies.
  12. Completes all mandatory training and participates in meetings and professional development activities.
    Perform other duties as assigned.
