The Ohio State University College of Dentistry seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to work collaboratively with the Division of Biosciences. This is a term
position for a maximum 4-year duration and is dependent on grant funding. The Division of Biosciences is a multidisciplinary basic science unit committed to research and teaching in the broad area of biosciences. All faculty members within the Division are engaged in active research programs and are funded by a variety of organizations including the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is the fourth largest public dental school in the United States and it is the only public dental school in Ohio.
The college is divided into ten divisions with all major ADA-recognized dental specialties represented. The College has approximately 600 students in its
undergraduate and graduate programs.
Looking for a self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented person who is enthusiastic about basic, clinical, and translational science, to join a dynamic and
productive team-based laboratory studying the molecular biology of dental and skeletal development. The Postdoctoral Researcher will work on NIH funded
projects focusing on normal and pathological development and mineralization of mouse and human dental tissues. Duties include: Designing and conducting
experiments and analyzing results under the oversight of the principal investigator; maintaining mouse breeding colonies, performing injections, surgeries,
and other procedures, and collecting tissue samples; performing histology, microscopy, and other analyses; assisting the principal investigator with training of students; assisting the principal investigator with writing of manuscripts and preparation of data; presenting data at scientific conferences.
Schedule
The work schedule is flexible in terms of the daily beginning and ending time. It is expected that at least 40 hours per week will be accomplished.
Position Requirements
This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
The body must be able to reach, bend, stoop and reach in order to perform most clinical procedures. The ability to sit and stand for a duration of time is also necessary. Other specific requirements include color spectrum differentiation; manual dexterity/motor coordination, hand-eye coordination, physical
communications; visual acuity and communication/language development; ability to work with rodents. Individuals in this position may be exposed to the
following: bloodborne pathogens; chemical hazards (skin irritants); equipment; and use of sharp instruments.
Required: Required: PhD in Oral Biology or equivalent field.
Desired: Desired: Experience in dental, skeletal, and/or developmental biology research techniques; skills in mouse husbandry and procedure; experience
with cell and molecular biology.
